IFG Companies Announces New Managing Director - Inland Marine, Thomas A. Poland

ATLANTA, GA - IFG Companies has announced that Thomas A. Poland has joined as its Managing Director – Inland Marine. Tom, who will be based in IFG's Atlanta office, will be responsible for establishing and leading IFG's Inland Marine business within the Brokerage Property division. Among his responsibilities will be the development of IFG's inland marine product offerings, recruiting a strong team of inland marine underwriting specialists, and executing on strategies to build a profitable book of inland marine business.
"Tom brings a combination of deep market, product and operating expertise within Inland Marine that makes him an excellent choice to expand our presence in this line. Inland Marine represents another important addition to our suite of products, and we are very pleased to have Tom join our team," said Bob Linton, Chairman of IFG Companies.
Tom joins IFG Companies after more than three decades of management, underwriting and operating experience in Inland Marine and Property-related insurance. Mostly recently, he served as Vice President – Inland Marine at the Colony Specialty Operations of Argo Group. Prior to Colony, Tom worked at Hanover Insurance Company as the Marine Operations Officer. Tom also brings the broad experience from working at other insurance firms, including Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, Reliance Insurance Company, St. Paul Companies, and Hartford Insurance Group.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Management from Radford University and holds a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation.
