​IFG Companies Announces New President of Excess and Umbrella,
Michael G. Vought

NEW YORK, NY - IFG Companies has announced that Michael G. Vought has joined as President of Excess and Umbrella.  Michael will be based in IFG's New York City office and will be responsible for building and leading IFG's Excess and Umbrella business through a network of offices across the United States.  Among his responsibilities will be the development of strategies for growth and profitability of his unit, along with recruiting and managing a team of skilled professionals to execute those strategies.

"Michael has deep market and product expertise with Excess and Umbrella.  He is a proven and highly respected industry leader and a great complement to the team we are building.  I am delighted to have him join IFG as we expand our product and geographic footprint," said Bob Linton, Chairman of IFG Companies.

Michael joins IFG after almost eight years with Markel Corporation, where he served as a Managing Director and Product Line Leader for Excess and Umbrella and Primary Brokerage Casualty.  While at Markel, he was responsible for the units' operating results.  In addition, Michael oversaw the integration of Alterra's Excess Casualty group when Alterra was acquired by Markel in 2013.

Prior to joining Markel, Michael was with St. Paul Travelers, where most recently he was the President of its E&S Lines Division.  Michael began his career as an underwriter for Liberty Mutual.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hofstra University and a Master in Arts degree in Behavioral Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University.  Michael also holds a Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University School of Law.
